Baloot

The partnership card game of the Gulf

About this game

Baloot is the traditional four-player partnership card game of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, related to the French game Belote. Bid for Sun (no trump) or Hokum (a trump suit where the Jack and 9 outrank the Ace), then play all eight tricks with your computer partner against two computer opponents. Ten hands-on lessons teach the whole game, four computer levels give you room to grow, and a new daily deal tests your reading of the table every day. Score only: no wagering, no ads, works offline. A full in-app Rules reference covers every ruling in detail.

How to play

  1. New to Baloot? Tap Learn to play: ten short lessons where you make every real move yourself.
  2. TAP a card to raise it, TAP it again to play it, or DRAG it upward. TAP a big button to bid.
  3. Bidding: one card is turned face up. Say Hokum (that suit is trump), Sun (no trump, x2), or Pass.
  4. Follow suit. In Hokum, if you can't and an opponent is winning, you must trump the trick.
  5. In Hokum the Jack and 9 of trump outrank even the Ace.
  6. Declare runs, sets or Baloot (King and Queen of trump) in the first trick for bonus points.
  7. Hint (3 a hand) suggests a play and explains why. Take back undoes your last move.
  8. Race to 152 (or a shorter 61) with your computer partner against two computer opponents.
