Mahjong

The game of the four winds

About this game

Mahjong is the four-player tile game of China, played around the world. Build four sets and a pair before three computer players do: draw, discard, and call chows, pungs and kongs. Hong Kong-style scoring shows exactly which patterns scored and why. Learn in eleven hands-on lessons, watch free Auto Play play a whole hand face-up for you, play three computer levels, get plain-words hints, and solve a new discard puzzle every day. Thick ivory-and-jade tiles, a felt table, large text, reduced motion and three tile-face styles. Play in δΈζ–‡ or English. Score only, no ads, works offline.

How to play

  1. New here? Eleven short lessons teach every step, or watch free Auto Play play a whole hand face-up for you.
  2. Each turn you draw a tile and discard one. TAP a tile to lift it, then TAP it again (or DRAG it up) to discard.
  3. Build four sets and a pair: a chow is three in a row in one suit, a pung is three alike, a kong is four alike.
  4. When another player discards a tile you can use, TAP Chow, Pung, Kong or Win!, or TAP Pass. A short timer runs; you can turn it off.
  5. Win! beats Pung and Kong, which beat Chow. A chow may only be taken from the player before you.
  6. A win needs at least 1 fan (or 3 in Settings). The score screen shows each pattern and why it scored.
  7. Tap Why? for advice on your discard. The daily challenge is three puzzles, the same for everyone.
  8. Play a Quick hand or a whole East round of four deals. Your hand is saved when you leave.
