Truco Brasileiro: Manilha

Shout Truco, bluff the table, win with the manilha

About this game

Truco is one of Brazil's best-loved card games: three cards each, a shouted stake ladder (Truco, Seis, Nove, Doze) and a lot of bluffing. This version has both big regional styles, Paulista (a turned card names the four manilhas) and Mineiro (four fixed manilhas), for two players or as a four-player partnership. The computer opponents truly bluff and remember whether you run; your computer partner sends and reads the traditional table gestures. Hints, full Rules, big text and Auto Play help you learn. Score only: no chips, no wagers, no ads, works offline.

How to play

  1. Win two of the three tricks in each hand. Any card is legal: there is no following suit.
  2. TAP a card to raise it, TAP it again to play it, or DRAG it upward. Gold-edged cards are manilhas and beat everything.
  3. Paulista: the turned vira names the manilhas (next rank up). Mineiro: always 4 of Clubs, 7 of Hearts, Ace of Spades, 7 of Diamonds.
  4. On your turn tap TRUCO to raise the stakes. The other team can accept, run or raise again. Bluff if you dare.
  5. When the computer shouts, choose Accept, Run or the next raise. Hint shows your chance of winning the hand.
  6. At 11 points (Paulista) or 10 (Mineiro) your team looks at all its cards and decides whether to play or run.
  7. With four players tap Signal to tell your partner your best card with a face. Opponents may notice.
  8. Race to 12 points. Auto Play on the title screen shows a full match and explains each decision.
