Yote

Drop, jump, and take a bonus pebble from anywhere.

About this game

Yote is a traditional pebble-and-sand game of Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso, played on 30 scooped pits. Each turn drop a pebble, step one pit or jump; every jump lets you remove a second enemy pebble of your choice. Five computer levels, two players on one phone, hands-on lessons, hints that explain why, danger marks, take back and a Watch & Learn mode. Large text and reduced motion options, no ads, works offline.

How to play

  1. New here? Tap Learn to play: six short hands-on lessons where you make every move yourself.
  2. Tap an empty pit to drop a pebble from your hand. You have twelve to place.
  3. Or tap one of your pebbles on the board, then a glowing pit next to it, to step one pit.
  4. Jump an enemy pebble that is next to yours onto the empty pit behind it. A red ring marks a jump.
  5. After every jump, tap any other enemy pebble on the board to remove it as your bonus.
  6. Capture is your choice, never forced. Keep pebbles in hand: a bonus cannot reach them while others stand on the board.
  7. Win by capturing every enemy pebble. Auto Play shows the computer playing both sides, with Pause.
