Long-chain n-3 PUFA: EPA (C20:5) and DHA (C22:6) from cold-water fish; ALA (C18:3) from plants. EPA/DHA reduce TG 30–50%, decrease platelet aggregation, modulate eicosanoid and SPM synthesis. REDUCE-IT: EPA 4 g/d → −25% MACE. Anti-inflammatory at pharmacological doses.
