thrombopoietin
Thrombopoietin
Thrombopoietin (TPO; THPO, chr3q27.3) is the master regulator of megakaryopoiesis; binds c-Mpl → JAK2/STAT5 → platelet production. Levels inversely correlate with platelet count via Mpl absorption. TPO-receptor agonists (romiplostim, eltrombopag) treat ITP and aplastic anemia.
