Bilobed gland (~25 g) at anterior neck. Follicular cells synthesise T4/T3 regulating BMR, cardiac output, CNS myelination, and thermogenesis. C-cells secrete calcitonin (↓Ca²⁺). TRH→TSH→thyroid feedback axis; Hashimoto's and Graves' are common autoimmune disorders.
