PlainShelter is provided by EqualInformation, LLC. It is a native, offline-first app that helps you build a shelter from the materials around you, step by step, with a citation for every recommendation.
Privacy questions or requests: privacy@equalinformation.com. Public information site: PlainShelter.
This policy applies to the PlainShelter app (iOS bundle identifier and Android package name: com.equalinformation.plainshelter.app) and to this page.
PlainShelter has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting service. The following is kept only on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else by the app:
All shelter content, diagrams and the offline source excerpts are bundled with the app and work with no internet connection.
We do not collect personal information. We do not operate any server that the app talks to. We receive no usage data, no device identifiers, no location, and no payment details.
The app does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or notifications. On Android the only permission is internet access, used for the two things in Section 6. Two optional features use your device itself: read-aloud uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech, and keep the screen awake stops the screen turning off during a guided build. Neither sends anything anywhere.
Only in these cases:
PlainShelter Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Whether you have an active subscription is checked on your device through the App Store or Google Play and cached by the store, so the app can verify it without any server of ours. You manage or cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play settings.
Your device's own backup (iCloud backup on iPhone, Android Auto Backup on Android) may include the app's small settings and progress data, under Apple's or Google's policies. We do not receive it.
PlainShelter does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. The app is general reference information.
PlainShelter gives general survival information from public-domain and open sources. It is not professional, medical or emergency-service advice. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. You can erase everything the app stores on your device at any time by uninstalling it. If you believe we hold data about you, write to us and we will respond.
If this policy changes we will update this page and its effective date. Effective date: October 23, 2026.
