1 Who We Are

PlainRescue is provided by EqualInformation, LLC. PlainRescue is an offline-first first-aid and emergency-response app — calm, step-by-step, cited, voice-guided guidance that works with no signal, because that is exactly when emergencies happen.

2 Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the PlainRescue app (iOS bundle identifier: com.equalinformation.plainrescue.app; Android package name: com.equalinformation.plainrescue.app). PlainRescue is not yet published — it is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.

3 Information PlainRescue May Store

PlainRescue is designed to keep everything on your device. Depending on how you use the app, PlainRescue may store the following locally, never transmitting it:

• Your optional Medical Card (allergies, medical conditions, medications, blood type, date of birth, organ-donor preference, and emergency contacts)
• App settings (voice guidance and auto-read toggles, preferred emergency number override, clinician mode)
• Onboarding completion state and your chosen preferences
• Learn-mode progress (such as practice-quiz results)

PlainRescue does not collect or transmit any of this data. All information remains on your device.

4 How We Use Information

PlainRescue uses locally stored information to:

• Display your Medical Card so it is available to you and to responders in an emergency
• Place a call to the correct local emergency number through your phone's dialer
• Read protocol steps aloud and apply your voice, language, and clinician-mode preferences
• Show your practice-quiz results in Learn mode

5 Local-First, Offline Design

PlainRescue is 100% on-device. It does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on servers. There is no account, no servers, no cloud sync, and no user tracking. The entire app — every emergency protocol, citation, timer, metronome, and the voice guidance — works fully offline, with no network on any critical path.

6 No Analytics or Tracking

PlainRescue does not use any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. No data is sent to third-party analytics services.

7 Emergency Content and Medical Disclaimer

PlainRescue provides step-by-step first-aid guidance, with every step backed by at least one citation from an authoritative body (such as the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, European Resuscitation Council, WHO, ILCOR, CDC, St John Ambulance, and the NHS). The content is for educational and informational purposes only and is guidance, not diagnosis. It is not a substitute for professional medical care. PlainRescue always reinforces calling your local emergency services — in an emergency, call them first. Always seek the advice of qualified medical professionals.

8 Permissions

PlainRescue requests as few permissions as possible:

• Microphone and Speech Recognition (optional): Used only if you choose spoken intake to say what is happening (for example, "someone is choking") so PlainRescue can jump to the right protocol. Speech is processed on-device; you can always tap or search instead.
• Phone / dialer: The "Call emergency services" bar opens your phone's dialer with the correct local number. PlainRescue does not place calls without your action.
• Audio output and haptics: The CPR metronome plays sound and vibration during an active emergency flow. PlainRescue requests an audio session override only while you are inside an active protocol, never on launch.

PlainRescue does not require location, camera, contacts, or internet for its functionality.

9 OS-Native Medical ID

PlainRescue can point you to your device's built-in emergency information (Apple Medical ID on iOS, Emergency information on Android) so first responders can reach it from the lock screen. PlainRescue only deep-links you to those system settings — it does not read, store, or transmit your OS Medical ID.

10 Sharing and Sale of Data

EqualInformation, LLC does not sell personal or sensitive user data. We do not share users' data with data brokers or for advertising purposes. The company does not intentionally transmit personal or sensitive PlainRescue user data to its own servers or unrelated third parties.

11 Data Retention and Deletion

You can edit, export, or delete your Medical Card at any time from within the app. Uninstalling PlainRescue removes all locally stored data from your device, including your Medical Card, settings, and any Learn-mode progress.

12 Security

Your Medical Card is stored using platform protections (Apple Keychain on iOS, Encrypted Shared Preferences on Android) and app sandboxing as part of PlainRescue's local-first design. However, no method of storage is completely secure, and the company cannot guarantee absolute security.

13 Children's Privacy

PlainRescue is designed to provide emergency guidance to the general public. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe information has been provided inappropriately, please contact the company.

14 Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the Effective Date above.
