Effective Date: September 8, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the PlainWater mobile application ("PlainWater," "the app") provided by EqualInformation, LLC ("we," "us," "the company"). By downloading, installing, or using PlainWater, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Your use of PlainWater is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
PlainWater is an offline-first water-safety app. It helps you find, test, and make water safe to drink, and recognize and treat basic waterborne illness — purification methods and dosing calculators, illness triage and rehydration guidance, emergency sourcing and storage, region-specific risk reference, and disaster-specific checklists, in plain language, with cited sources, organized across 8 modules.
PlainWater provides general educational information only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and it does not certify that any water sample is safe to drink. Any visual, odor, or camera-based reference feature in PlainWater is for educational comparison only — it is not a laboratory test and does not produce a "tested safe" result. PlainWater's guidance always errs toward treating or boiling water when in doubt. PlainWater is not a substitute for a certified laboratory water test or for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment; if you or someone in your care is experiencing symptoms of illness, seek qualified medical care. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PlainWater for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app or its bundled content, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
PlainWater is free to download, and a generous free tier covers every life-critical feature with no catch. Optional paid features unlock additional depth, offered two ways — whichever you prefer:
Prices are shown in the app and may vary by region and over time. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device's account settings (App Store or Google Play) — PlainWater cannot cancel it for you, and uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Unlike the one-time Pro purchase, a subscription's unlock is active only while it is current (including any grace period the App Store or Google Play grants after a failed renewal); if you have ever purchased Pro, your full unlock remains permanent regardless of subscription status.
All purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google, and their store terms apply. Refunds are handled according to the policies of the App Store or Google Play; we generally do not control or issue store refunds directly.
Where a free trial or introductory offer is available, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable. We may change features, pricing, or the availability of paid offerings over time. Changes do not affect a purchase you have already completed for the period it covers.
You agree to use PlainWater lawfully and only for its intended educational purpose. You are responsible for any device, operating system, and connectivity needed to download or update the app, and for keeping your device secure. Because PlainWater stores your information locally on your device, you are responsible for your own device backups; uninstalling the app removes locally stored data.
PlainWater, including its text, design, knowledge base, and software, is owned by EqualInformation, LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Third-party sources cited within the app remain the property of their respective owners and are referenced for educational purposes. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
PlainWater is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that its content is complete, current, or applicable to your individual circumstances or local water conditions. Water-safety information evolves, and content is provided for general education only.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EqualInformation, LLC and its members shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, PlainWater — including any decision made or action taken in reliance on its content, such as a decision about whether water is safe to drink. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless EqualInformation, LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of PlainWater or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
You may stop using PlainWater at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access to the app or any feature if you breach these Terms or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply. The App Store and Google Play each have additional terms that apply to your use of apps obtained through them.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the Effective Date above. Your continued use of PlainWater after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
