This Privacy Policy applies to the MediSight app (iOS bundle identifier: com.equalinformation.medisight.app; Android package name: com.equalinformation.medisight.app). MediSight is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
MediSight is a global drug reference and pill identifier that serves two audiences:
Important: MediSight is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting, stopping, or changing any medication.
Depending on how you use the app, MediSight may store information on your device, including:
Important: All of this information is stored exclusively on your device. MediSight does not transmit, upload, or sync any personal data to EqualInformation servers.
MediSight uses the device camera for pill identification. Camera access is used solely to capture images of pills for on-device analysis (OCR imprint reading, color/shape detection). Images are processed locally using Apple Vision framework (iOS) or Google ML Kit (Android). No images are transmitted to any server. Camera access is optional and the app functions fully without it.
MediSight's sync engine can connect to public drug information APIs (FDA openFDA, DailyMed, RxNorm, WHO, etc.) to update the local drug database. When sync is enabled:
For Clinician Pro and Institution users who configure custom data sources (e.g., hospital formularies, paid services like UpToDate or Lexicomp), the app connects to those user-specified endpoints using credentials the user provides. EqualInformation does not have access to these credentials or the data retrieved.
MediSight is designed to work fully offline. The bundled drug database (128+ medications, interactions, clinical data) requires no internet connection. All user data (saved medications, logs, family profiles, side effect reports) is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults/SharedPreferences. There are no user accounts, no cloud sync of personal data, and no user tracking.
MediSight does not use any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or tracking tools. No data is sent to third-party analytics services. No advertising identifiers are collected. No usage patterns are tracked.
MediSight uses Apple App Store In-App Purchase (on iOS) or Google Play Billing (on Android) for subscription functionality (Patient Plus, Clinician Pro, and Institution tiers). Apple or Google may process payment and transaction information under their own respective policies. MediSight may receive limited purchase-status or product information needed to unlock purchased content on your device. EqualInformation, LLC does not receive your full payment card number through MediSight.
MediSight contains drug information, clinical dosing protocols, pharmacogenomic data, and other medical reference content. This information is compiled from public sources (FDA, WHO, NIH/NLM) and is provided for informational purposes only. It should not be used as a substitute for professional medical judgment. Always verify drug information with official sources and consult a qualified healthcare provider.
MediSight may request the following device permissions:
MediSight does not require microphone, location, contacts, or other sensitive permissions.
For Institution tier users, MediSight can connect to hospital EMR/EHR systems via FHIR R4 endpoints. Any data retrieved from these systems is stored locally on the device and is not transmitted to EqualInformation servers. The FHIR endpoint URL and authentication credentials are stored securely in the device's Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android). EqualInformation does not have access to institutional data or credentials.
EqualInformation, LLC does not sell personal or sensitive user data. We do not share users' data with data brokers or for advertising purposes. The company does not intentionally transmit personal MediSight user data to its own servers or unrelated third parties.
All user data in MediSight is stored locally on your device. Subscription-related unlock state may be restorable through App Store or Google Play for eligible purchases. Uninstalling MediSight removes all locally stored data from your device, including all saved medications, medication logs, family profiles, side effect reports, and preferences.
MediSight relies on iOS and Android platform protections and app sandboxing as part of its local-first design. App data is stored within the app's private sandbox and is not accessible to other apps. Custom data source credentials are stored in the platform's secure credential storage (Keychain/Keystore). However, no method of storage or electronic transmission is completely secure, and the company cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may choose to subscribe to Patient Plus, Clinician Pro, or Institution content or not. You control what information you enter into the app. You can enable or disable camera access at any time. You can enable or disable data source sync at any time. You can configure which data sources are active. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
MediSight is intended for adults (18+) and healthcare professionals. It is not designed for or directed at children under 13. MediSight does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe information has been provided inappropriately, please contact the company.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the Effective Date above.
