Yes, for everything safety-critical. Every hazard action guide, safety calculator, and go/no-go checklist works fully offline. The one optional exception is forecast caching: when you're online, PlainWeather fetches and stores a forecast locally with a "last updated" timestamp, and keeps using that cached data once you lose signal.
Yes. PlainWeather has no required account, no ads, and does not use analytics or tracking SDKs. Your family emergency plan, saved locations, and profile settings stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details, including the limited use of location for regional forecasts.
No. PlainWeather provides general safety guidance and plain-language explanations of official terms, but it always defers to your local meteorological or emergency-management authority's alerts and evacuation orders. In a life-threatening situation, call your local emergency services.
The entire safety-critical layer — every hazard guide, calculator, and go/no-go checklist — is free for everyone, permanently, with no ads. An optional "PlainWeather Pro" unlock adds convenience-only depth, available either as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription — whichever you prefer, both grant identical access.
Pro covers convenience and depth features only, never anything safety-critical: a Historical Worst-Case Reference (how bad each hazard has actually gotten, with real examples), Pollen & Seasonal Allergy Notes, an Event & Wedding Weather Planner, and Gardening Frost Protection guidance. A lapsed or cancelled subscription never removes anything safety-critical.
It's the built-in "30-30 rule" flash-to-bang timer: count the seconds between seeing lightning and hearing thunder, and PlainWeather tells you when conditions are unsafe and when it's safe to go back outside.
Yes. PlainWeather includes a simplified, visual Kids' weather-safety mode, an Elderly/heat-vulnerable mode with larger text and fewer taps, and guidance tuned for pregnancy, chronic-illness (asthma, COPD, cardiac), and pet safety. These are content-presentation modes, not medical tools, and are all free.
PlainWeather follows your phone's language and falls back to English wherever a translation is still in progress, with more languages added progressively.
