Get help with PlainCrisis — a private, on-device crisis-support app.
If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, or someone's safety is at immediate risk: call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US), call your local emergency number, or go to the nearest emergency room right now. PlainCrisis is a self-help tool, not an emergency service.
PlainCrisis is a private, on-device crisis-support app for iOS and Android: a crisis-hotline directory, a one-tap call or text to a trusted contact, quick grounding exercises, a guided safety-plan builder, journaling, and related tools. There's no account, no ads, and nothing you write or record ever leaves your device. The crisis-critical core is free permanently for everyone; an optional monthly Pro subscription adds deeper personalization and an expanded content library on top. PlainCrisis v1.0.2 is live on Google Play; the iOS version is waiting for App Store review — check back here for the App Store link.
Yes on Android: PlainCrisis v1.0.2 is live on Google Play. The iOS version (v1.0.2) has been submitted to the App Store and is waiting for Apple's review — this page will be updated with the App Store link as soon as it is approved.
Yes for everything that matters most — the crisis-hotline directory, the safety-plan builder, grounding and coping tools, and journaling all work fully offline. The only network activity in the entire app is an optional, off-by-default check for updated reference content, which you can leave off indefinitely with no loss of functionality.
Yes. PlainCrisis has no account, no servers, no cloud sync, no analytics, and no ad tracking. Your safety plan, journal, and contacts are encrypted on your device and never transmitted anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for details.
No. PlainCrisis is a self-help tool and reference resource, not a counselor, a clinician, or an emergency dispatcher. It does not monitor you for signs of crisis and cannot send help on its own. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number or a crisis line right away — PlainCrisis is designed to help you do exactly that, quickly.
Every listing is compiled from publicly available sources, but hotline numbers, text lines, and hours of operation can change without notice, and we do not verify each one in real time. If a listed number doesn't work, or you have any doubt, contact your local emergency number or search for current crisis resources for your region. See the app's Terms of Use for the full disclosure.
Immediate crisis support, the safety-plan builder, grounding and coping tools, means-restriction guidance, and the hotline directory are free, permanently, for everyone — that is a hard rule in how the app is built, not a promotional offer. An optional, single monthly Pro subscription adds deeper personalization, an expanded content and grounding-exercise library, extended journal history and export, and tools aimed at caregivers and professionals.
Pro is a single, auto-renewing monthly subscription — there's no annual, lifetime, or family plan. It's billed entirely through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store; PlainCrisis never sees your payment details. You can cancel any time from your device's subscription settings, and canceling never removes any crisis-critical feature, since those are never part of Pro in the first place.
Yes. You can export your safety plan or journal as a PDF, or back up your app data to an encrypted local file you control, from Settings. These exports are entirely user-initiated — you choose where they go, and PlainCrisis never sees or keeps a copy.
Settings → Delete everything immediately and permanently erases all of your data from your device. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, this is instant and complete. Uninstalling the app also removes its data.
Try these steps:
1. Force-close and reopen the app.
2. Restart your device.
3. Make sure you are running the latest version from Google Play (or the App Store, once the iOS version is available).
4. If the issue persists, contact us (see below) with your device model, OS version, and a description of the problem.
