This Privacy Policy applies to the Kindly app (iOS bundle identifier: com.equalinformation.kindly.app; Android package name: com.kindly.app). Kindly is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
Kindly is an AI-powered mental wellness companion that provides mood tracking, guided journaling, breathing exercises, affirmations, coping strategies, and crisis safety resources. It is designed for two audiences:

Kindly does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on servers. All data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (iOS) or Room database (Android). There is no cloud sync, no user accounts, and no user tracking. Kindly does not require an internet connection to function (except for in-app purchase verification).
Kindly's AI wellness companion uses an on-device rules-based engine to provide responses. Your conversation data is processed locally and is not sent to any external AI service, cloud provider, or third-party server. All chat history remains on your device.
Kindly does not use any analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or tracking tools. No data is sent to third-party analytics services. No advertising identifiers are collected.
Kindly uses Apple App Store In-App Purchase (on iOS) or Google Play Billing (on Android) for subscription functionality (Kindly Pro and Kindly Clinical tiers). Apple or Google may process payment and transaction information under their own respective policies. Kindly may receive limited purchase-status or product information needed to unlock purchased content on your device. EqualInformation, LLC does not receive your full payment card number through Kindly.
Kindly stores mood data, journal entries, and wellness tracking information that may be considered sensitive health information. This data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any server. Kindly does not access Apple Health, Google Fit, or any other health platform. For Professional Mode users, patient clinical data is also stored exclusively on the device and is not transmitted externally.
Kindly provides links to crisis resources including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, NAMI Helpline, and SAMHSA Helpline. When you tap a crisis phone number, your device's native phone dialer is activated. Kindly does not track or log crisis resource usage.

Kindly does not require camera, microphone, location, contacts, or other sensitive permissions.
Kindly Pro and Clinical subscribers can export their data as JSON files. The export is generated locally on your device and shared using your device's native share sheet. No data is uploaded to any server during the export process.
EqualInformation, LLC does not sell personal or sensitive user data. We do not share users' data with data brokers or for advertising purposes. The company does not intentionally transmit personal or sensitive Kindly user data to its own servers or unrelated third parties.
All data in Kindly is stored locally on your device. Subscription-related unlock state may be restorable through App Store or Google Play for eligible purchases. Uninstalling Kindly removes all locally stored data from your device, including all mood entries, journal entries, chat history, clinical data, and preferences.
Kindly relies on iOS and Android platform protections and app sandboxing as part of its local-first design. App data is stored within the app's private sandbox and is not accessible to other apps. However, no method of storage or electronic transmission is completely secure, and the company cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may choose to subscribe to Pro or Clinical content or not. You control what information you enter into the app. You can enable or disable daily check-in reminders at any time. You can export your data at any time (Pro/Clinical). Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
Kindly is intended for adults (18+). It is not designed for or directed at children under 13. Kindly does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe information has been provided inappropriately, please contact the company.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the Effective Date above.
